As nurses, we at The Ohio State University Nurses Organization, know how important it is to find ways to help patients and families. The hospital can be a scary place - for kids of all ages.
A toy or game can be used by volunteers to help a child forget for a moment that they are in the hospital. A visit by a volunteer can allow a parent or caregiver to take a chance to grab a cup of coffee, a bite to eat, a shower or just a moment to reflect. A child may receive a toy while visiting in the Emergency Room or during their hospital stay. This can allow for a moment of "normal" in an otherwise stressful time.
Many of us have been touched by the services at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Maybe we have taken our children there for doctor appointments, ER visits or surgery. Maybe we have been there as patients in our earlier lives. This is our chance, as a community, to truly make a difference in child's life. Never underestimate the power of a toy to bring some magic to a moment!
Last year, we were able to donate over $2500 and a mini-van of toys to Nationwide Children's Hospital. We challenge Columbus to help us exceed that amount this year! We can do it!

Nationwide Children's Hospital Toy Program
Provides toys for patients throughout their care network. These toys are used by volunteers as well as given to patients as gifts.
